Fast food type place but excellent St Louis ribs. Good food, fast, clean. Friendly staff, very clean. Not too noisy. A little pricey for the venue but not too bad, a decent value. A great choice for lunch hour.

My wife liked her ribs a lot, and thought they were better than Famous Daves. I thought my brisket was so-so, a little dry and not so flavorful. The hot bbq sauce at the table helped a lot. The brisket sandwich would have been better had the bun been toasted or buttered a bit. As it was, the sandwich and sides reminded me more of a picnic lunch than a restaurant meal.

We finally stopped in to eat at this new restaurant in our part of town. BBQ Back Yard Grill serves pulled pork, brisket, chicken, ribs, and wings, with all of the typical sides. Among my family, we had a pulled pork sandwich, a basket of wings, and a side of ribs. All of the meats were wonderful, and the sides fit the bill. We especially liked the Mac-and-Cheese, the baked beans, and the cornbread. It would be nice if there was a family/variety platter on the menu, but we'll definitely be going back.

We've found the brisket and the pulled pork very tasty--love the mustard sauce. Service is fast and cheerful. The cole slaw and potato salad are excellent!

Amazing bbq. Best place in town. My group had brisket, smoked chicken, and ribs. All were awesome. Ribs melted in your mouth. I love smoked chicken, my favorite thing ever and this place has some of the best I've had. Totally worth a stop. Plus they've got SDSU ice cream so it's really a bonus!

Staff was very friendly explaining how to order as we had never been here before. Pulled pork, wings and fries were all pretty good. I would recommend at least adding a couple ribs for sides if not getting them for your whole meal because they were literally falling off the bone with great smoky flavor and good rub seasoning. I think they are probably up there with the best ribs I've ever had! All in all, we'd definitely come back if we were craving BBQ!

Atmosphere is nice. Simple menu. I didn't appreciate my service when I wanted to get an ice cream order from their side menu. The server said he CAN do half flavors though they usually don't. So I agreed with it for two flavors, my amounts received were much smaller than my peers that I came with who had one flavored ice cream. I had half the amount total in a small Dixie Cup size. The server was going on and on how he usually doesn't do this, then gives me a very little amount for the cost I paid for and made feel really awful for requesting two flavors. He continues to keep telling me it's ok, when I was not ok. I was really upset with that service. Next time, just say you can't do two flavors- just give the amount like everyone else had paid for.

My husband, and I were extremely pleased with every aspect of our visit here. This was not our first time eating here, and will certainly not be our last. Every aspect of this locally owned restaurant is wonderful. The environment is warm, and just as welcoming as the staff, and the food is delicious!

Great kc style BBQ in Sioux Falls. Dry rub style and put your sauces on at the table. Ribs were great had a nice smoke ring. Had the pulled pork sandwich and that was good as well. Others in our group had Mac and cheese side, fries and chips which were all all right. Sdsu ice-cream....can't go wrong with that!!! You order/pickup at the counter ...not sit down order style. The customer service was great!! Helped with recommendations etc. Would like to see tap beer :)

The brisket was tasteless and mushy. I covered the meat in bbq sauce and there still wasn't any flavor. The mac and cheese was from a box and the chili looked like soup. Honestly, the bbq at pickled barrell destroyed this place.

I have eaten a lot of BBQ and if u want good barbecue this is not your place. Have eaten the brisket and the pulled pork. Portions are generous but flavor is lacking. Almost as if food is purchased from a local distributer then warmed to serve.

This place brings back memories, since it is in an old Shakey's Pizza building. Funny, the place seemed pretty big back then, but I was only six, so go figure! As far as the food goes, l'd call it "fast food BBQ", and I mean that as a compliment. you order at the counter, and the counter person tells the cook, who dishes it up in front of you. The ribs, pulled pork, and brisket are all outstanding. The macaroni salad is good, but I didn't care for the BBQ spaghetti or Texas chili. Fries are good, but they should halve the serving size, and offer a 2nd side. I'm guessing they serve a big pile since they put the fries in fryer when you order.

Great place for dry rub ribs! And very comparable to Memphis ribs. Don't waste your time going to one of the chain barbecue places, go here instead. Reasonably priced very good food all across the board.

They have a smoked prime rib on Fri-Sat that is incredibly good. Good quality prime rib and the smoking done perfectly.

This was my first time at their new location in Sioux Falls. Same great food, friendly staff, and "real" decor of the restaurant in Brookings. The have good, consistent and addicting food... Rarely liking "restaurant ribs" I was hesitant to try and was pleasantly surprised. I will be heading back sooner rather than later.
